WEC Honors Ecolab with 2018 Gold Medal Award on May 17

 
WEC awarded Ecolab the Gold Medal for International Corporate Achievement in Sustainable Development during the 34th annual Gold Medal Presentation Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on May 17.   Doug Baker, chairman and CEO of Ecolab, accepted the award on behalf of the company. 
 
Through a global competition, the independent Gold Medal Jury selected Ecolab’s application based upon its many initiatives to support global sustainable water management and conservation, its multiple sustainability commitments and partnerships, and integration of sustainability in its innovation processes and product development.
 
Preceding the award ceremony, WEC hosted its annual Gold Medal Colloquium, sponsored by Ingersoll Rand, which this year focused on the theme “Understanding Investor’s Expectations for Sustainability Performance.” The Colloquium featured leading investment analysts and company executives.

About Power to Grow

Power to Grow: The Innovation Challenge Fueled By La Red de Innovación e Impacto aims to support micro-enterprises by creating partnerships between mission-aligned organizations and current La Red member companies. Power to Grow selects innovative organizations to join forces with La Red companies (Alumni) towards: accelerating innovation and job creation opportunities for Central American micro-enterprises in the agriculture, agro-industry, and textiles sectors; building capacity of micro-enterprises to expand to new regional and international markets, with a focus on the U.S. market; and, generating economic prosperity across Central America. Power to Grow, is funded by U.S. Department of State, is a search to discover and reward organizations that are empowering micro-enterprises in Central America. Power to Grow selects innovative candidates to work with La Red member organizations towards:

WEC Europe & the Institute for Sustainability Awarded a Major Grant

It's with great pleasure to announce WEC and the Institute for Sustainability have been awarded by the German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) to advance corporate sustainability Management in Latin America. This competitively awarded grant funds an initiative called “Advancing Sustainability Management in Latin America” and will consist of 4 workshops in Chile and Mexico through November 2018.  The workshops will focus on how Latin American companies can learn from German sustainability management practices and those of other global companies to create greater business and sustainability value.  WEC Europe, based in Munich, partnered with The Institute for Sustainability (Berlin) to submit a proposal and will work with local partners APLE (Chile) and CESPEDES (Mexico). For more information in English,  Español, and Deutsch here is and a link to November 9th press release.

The study also shows how companies can enhance nonprofit board-matching services for their employees. WEC Europe Hosted Two Workshops

WEC Europe hosted two workshops on September 22 and 28th in Germany on Sustainable Development Goals and Science Based Targets. The September 22 workshop in Munich provided an interactive session for member companies working to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals. On September 28, WEC Europe organized a Frankfurt workshop that explored how interested member companies can find value in committing to Science-Based-Targets, the management of internal processes and the validation of S-B-T commitments and further practices.     For further details and links to summary visit here.

HP Receives 2017 Gold Medal

WEC is pleased to announce that its 33rd annual Gold Medal for International Corporate Achievement in Sustainable Development was awarded to HP Inc. (HP) on Thursday, May 11, 2017, during the Gold Medal Presentation Ceremony in Washington, D.C. WEC featured in Guatemala press

The Guatemalan Center for Cleaner Production (CGP + L), in partnership with the World Environment Center (WEC) and Rafael Landívar University, promoted a project benefiting a group of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which has drastically reduced production costs while implementing new environmentally friendly practices. In Guatemala, 76% of participating companies, mostly SMEs, report having achieved an average annual savings of US $4,000 in operating processes, states a Guatemalan article about the project.
