The Roundtable will convene global thought leaders and practitioners to discuss solutions to the challenges associated with Pharmaceuticals released to the environment and the emerging European regulation concerning the issue.

Desired outcomes for the Roundtable include:

  • Identification of innovation opportunities
  • Review of specific business solutions that have emerged
  • Advancement of systemic thinking in companies and across value chains
  • Strengthening of collaboration between stakeholders
Topics to be discussed include:
 
  •   Pharmaceuticals in the Environment  - A Challenge Unsolved
  •   Current Business Practice on PIE
  •   Legislative Action in the EU
  •   Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance in Global Supply Chains
  •   Consequences of the Environmental Risk Assessment of Human Pharmaceuticals: Mitigation Strategies
  •   Developing Green Medical Products: Will it become reality and when can we expect results?

This is an invitation-only event that will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule with approximately 25 senior executives from business, academia, government and NGOs. There will be no media but WEC will provide an event summary suitable for distribution. 

Senior speakers from the following organizations are confirmed:  AstraZeneca, Bayer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, ERM, F. Hoffman – LaRoche, Merck Group, Boehringer Ingelheim, and the World Environment Center.
