WEC collaborates with businesses, governments, academic institutions, and NGOs around the world to advance sustainable development. We also provide technical, educational, and project management training, and other services to help industry, governments, and other stakeholders achieve concrete business and societal value.
Empower Innovation Challenge
The World Environment Center (WEC) and its partners Ncleo de Biotecnologa de Curauma (NBC) and Baastel will support the expansion of the La Red de Innovacion e Impacto (La RED) network through a new Empower Innovation Challenge (EIC) in the Latin-American and Caribbean (LAC) region.
The goal of the EIC will be to assist women-owned micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in scaling their businesses through a series of small grants focused on local solutions. With a focus in green and blue economies, the EIC partnership will provide training, access to capital, networking, and partnership opportunities with local and international businesses.

Promoting environmental governance though improved practices and technologies.
The State Department Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs has funded the World Environment Center to promote environmental governance though improved practices and technologies in Morocco and Jordan. The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen environmental governance that will lead to the adoption of improved environmental practices, technologies, and services, particularly in addressing air pollution, and water and waste management challenges. WEC has partnered with EDI Consulting in Morocco and Water & Environment Centre/Cleaner Production Unit at the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan to provide their on-the-ground knowledge and support to achieve project objectives.

Creating Sustainable Value Chains
With funding from the Walmart Foundation, WEC developed an innovative capacity building program that is providing integral capacity building and market linkages solutions for small and marginalized farmers, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the agricultural and agroindustry sectors (e.g. vegetables, food processing) to strengthen their capacity and facilitate their market access, to a diverse array of differentiated market buyers in the countries of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The project aims also to create further formal market linkages to export.

For over 25 years, WEC has performed capacity building program in Latin America, Eastern Europe, The Middle East, Northern Africa, and Asia Pacific. Our historical funding partners have included the U.S. State Department, Alcoa, Coca-Cola, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, Marriott Hotels, Shanghai General Motors, SGM Wuling, Walmart, The German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Nathan Associates and USAID.
